The stars came out on this busy Emmy weekend to show their support for the Humane Society of the United States’ H-Couture 2012 Fur-Free Fashion Show. Hosted by “ Vampire Diaries” stars Paul Wesley and Torrey DeVitto, H-Couture celebrated the latest in fur-free designer menswear and womenswear from Marc Bouwer, John Bartlett, Victoria Bartlett, Kimberly Ovitz, and Charlotte Ronson. “Fur and leather belongs on animals, not on hangers,” mentioned designer Marc Bouwer. Proceeds from the event benefitted The HSUS’s fur-free campaign and the Hollywood outreach program. Torrey DeVitto said “Ever since I’ve been young I have loved animals. We need to be responsible about not wearing fur.” Paul Wesley noted, “It’s not cool to wear fur.” As for upcoming Vampire Diaries news, Torrey mentioned that her character Meredith was going to be developed and that audiences are going to see more of her. Paul says he is still pursuing the girl and “nothing is stopping me!’
Also in attendance were Joanna Krupa, Arielle Kebbel (in Alexander McQueen), Lindsay Pulsipher, Brooke Lyons, Humane Society of the United States President and CEO Wayne Pacelle, Charlotte Ross, Chaz Dean, and Owain Yeoman.
Sponsors of the special evening included Patron, Four Paws & a Tail, Warren-Tricomi, Kaz Amor, Plushie Girls, and Voce Hair Care. Fiona Gubelmann said, “You don’t have to hurt animals for the sake of fashion and tonight is living proof of that. Animals need their fur more than we do!” Designer John Bartlett also exclaimed, “Compassion in fashion is sexy – cruelty’s a turn-off.”
