Los Angeles / March, 2019 – From World Water Day, March 22, 2019 through Earth Day, April 22, 2019, people around the world are invited to take part in a social media movement called Raise It Forward. By simply raising a glass of anything, adding the hashtag #RaiseItForward, and mentioning @WaterForPeople and @AbsolutElyx, Absolut Elyx will contribute one week of safe water for every post to someone in need in communities where Water For People works. This year, Absolut Elyx will increase the donation amount to one month of safe water per post after the campaign reaches its goal of 10,000 posts mentioning #RaiseItForward.
Throughout the month, anyone will be able to make an impact on the global water crisis in a fun and engaging way by posting a picture of a toasting moment on their favorite social media channel. 2.1 billion people around the world don’t have access to safe water and 4.5 billion lack access to adequate sanitation. It is not uncommon for women and children in developing countries to spend more than four hours walking for water each day, and more than 840,000 people die each year from water-related diseases. By kicking off Raise It Forward on World Water Day, the campaign brings attention to this challenge while giving people a way to take action.
In 2015, Elyx joined forces with Water For People on a five-year partnership to bring access to safe water to more than 100,000 people worldwide. To date, over 40,000 people have been given access to safe drinking water through this partnership. Further, last year, the district of San Pedro, Bolivia, became the first district to reach aid independence – what Water For People calls “Forever” status. San Pedro is now a self-sustaining district with access to safe water for generations to come.

In 2018, there were more than 2,000 posts across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter which led to 324,800 liters of water donated. Celebrities, influencers, philanthropists, beverage industry professionals, and individuals around the world raised a glass to make an impact.
