‘Día De Los Muertos’ Cocktails and Fun Courtesy of MODELO BEER


In honor of Día de los Muertos, Casa Modelo is raising a glass to celebrate those who have passed on with a variety of unique and refreshing “Beertail” recipes. With options like the classic Modelo Calavera or the hot and spicy Modelo Ofrenda Picante, Modelo has a beertail perfect for any celebration you have planned.

Additionally, this year Casa Modelo is taking their celebration of Día de los Muertos one step further with a variety of “Celebra la Vida” (“Celebrate Life”) activations across the nation.

Modelo will be offering a calavera mask Snapchat filter on October 28

Modelo will be offering the world’s first ever Facebook Live ofrenda on November 2nd from 1:00-5:00pm PT

During this time, consumers across the country are encouraged to comment on Modelo’s Facebook page and request that an item, like a personalized sugar skull or bottle of Modelo, be added to the altar in honor of a friend or family member who has passed away.

Modelo will be creating a crowd-sourced ofrenda (“altar”) in Los Angeles during The Olvera Street festival

3 oz Modelo Especial™
1 1/2 oz. Reposado Tequila
1 oz. Simple Syrup
1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
Chili Powder

Method: Rim a chilled martini glass with salt and chili powder. Combine tequila, simple syrup, lime juice and ice in a shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into the glass and top with Modelo Especial™.

3-4 oz. Modelo Negra™
3/4 oz. Mezcal
3/4 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz. Agave Syrup (1:1 ratio agave nectar to water)
3 bar spoons Worcestershire Sauce
3 dashes Habanero Bitters
4 slices Habanero Peppers
Tajín® Clásico Seasoning
Red Chili Slices
Lime Wheel

Method: Rim a Collins glass with Tajín Clásico Seasoning. Add all ingredients to a shaker, excluding Modelo Negra™, Tajín Clásico Seasoning rim, red chili slices and lime wheel. Shake and strain into the Collins glass. Top with Modelo Negra™

3 oz. Modelo Especial™
1 1/2 oz. Navy Strength Rum
1/2 oz. Herbal Liqueur
1/2 oz. Crème de Cacao
1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
1 oz. Vanilla Syrup
1/2 dropper of Bittermens Burlesque Bitters™

Method: Combine in order: rum, crème de cacao, herbal liqueur, lime juice and bitters. Lightly shake all ingredients. Strain the mixture into a flute glass and top with Modelo Especial™
