New York – Friday night in New York City, the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) with The Cinema Society hosted an event to celebrate the British talent showcased in the 53rd New York Film Festival. The evening was supported by notables including Sting & Trudie Styler, Uma Thurman, Andre Balazs, Hugh Dancy, Gina Gershon, Erin Richards (Gotham), Zuleikha Robinson (Homeland, The Following), Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck, Unforgettable), Kelly Rutherford, Michelle Collins (The View), Joanna Christie (Narcos), Chaske Spencer (Twilight), Ian Nelson (The Hunger Games, The Judge), Kevin Daniels (Modern Family), Geoffrey Fletcher, Domingo Zapata, Stella Schnabel, America Olivo, Alina Baikova, Tali Lennox, producer Christian Colson, Celine Rattray, Tristine Skyler, Laurie Durning, Jazmin Grimaldi, Daniel Benedict, Julie La’Bassiere (BAFTA New York, CEO), Luke Parker Bowles, Luke Wintour.
Notoriously on-again/off-again couple Thurman and Balazs, who rekindled their romance last spring, held casual court in a back corner of the lounge for the duration of the swanky party (Thurman arrived first, later joined by the hotelier). The smitten pair seemed unaffected by New York’s stormy weather, both remaining raincoat-clad, all-smiles and extremely affectionate before heading back out to battle the elements towards the end of the event.
The night unfolded over signature St-Germain cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres at the brand new PH-D Terrace, a lounge nestled on the penthouse floor at the Dream Midtown. With enviable views of the Midtown skyline, guests were immediately greeted by a backdrop aptly fit for one of NYC’s most prestigious cinema events of the fall season.
