In related news, MADD and Uber recently collaborated to produce a report revealing that in California, drunk-driving crashes fell 6.5% among drivers under 30 in the markets where Uber operates. That represents potentially 60 fewer drunk driving crashes each month — a total of 1,800 crashes avoided — since July 2012. This comes on the heels of reports citing a decrease in DUI arrests in markets such as Philadelphia (11 percent) and Seattle (10 percent) where Uber has a strong presence. While this data is not directly attributed to Uber, it’s a positive sign that supports the growing trend of car sharing services such as Uber, having an impact on consumers making smarter transportation decisions, and keeping the roads safer.
