New York, NY (August 13, 2012) – Rolling Stone, the leading voice of music and popular culture, announced today the launch of its exclusive news app for Apple iPhones. The RS Music News app offers real-time updates on all of the latest happenings in the music and entertainment world in a convenient mobile format.
The news content feeds directly from RollingStone.com, and app users can opt into being pinged when there is breaking news. To stay updated on specific artists, users can “star” their favorites to receive push notifications of breaking news. The app also features additional content from RollingStone.com, including videos of performances and interviews, and photo galleries.
“Our audience is now using mobile for everything, and so we have created a convenient and personalized way to receive the latest Rolling Stone music news, videos and photos,” says David Kang, Chief Digital Officer of Wenner Media. “From exclusive breaking music news, to new concert dates, to streaming artist performances, our audience will be constantly connected to Rolling Stone’s coverage of the music world and their favorite artists through this new app.”
The RS Music News app is available to download for free from the Apple iTunes store. Belvedere Vodka is the exclusive launch partner for the app.
Earlier this year, Rolling Stone launched the “On the Road” concert listings and news application, which allows users to find nearby concerts, buy tickets and locate venues. It is available on Apple and Android devices. Also available for the Apple iPad is Rolling Stone’s “Ultimate Beatles Album-by-Album Guide.”
