Miami Beach, FL – On Friday, July 20, designer Paola Robba of Poko Pano showcased her Spring/Summer 2013 collection of swimwear and beachwear at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013. The 40-piece collection of bikinis, maillots, caftans and pants encompassed the rhythm of Salvador, the capital city of Bahia, Brazil. Each look was inspired by the city’s vibrant culture, crafts and ambiance, from famed street artist Bel Bora to the Brazilian martial arts style of Capoeira.
Poko Pano S/S ‘13 is a combination of sleek silhouettes and structured shapes with volume and architectural form. The vibrant color palette is reminiscent of the tropical shades found in Salvador, and introduces rich hues of blue, orange, red, green, pink, yellow and gold. The collection’s prints are influenced by the Bonfim ribbon – also known as the Brazilian wish bracelet, the historic buildings in Pelourinho, Salvador, and the lush flowers and tropical hibiscus and coconut trees of the region.
