Koi Los Angeles is the flagship restaurant of Koi Group and has been a staple in the LA dining scene since opening its doors in 2002. CEO Nick Haque’s vision of creating a specific dining experience that focused on the atmosphere as much as the cuisine became an instant phenomenon. In a time where most high-end eateries focused on food and clientele alone, the restaurant’s unique look and ambiance, coupled with signature dishes that garnered a cult following, started a movement that changed the dynamic of the entire industry.
“We set out to create a restaurant meant to stimulate all of the senses, resulting in a high-quality, exciting experience,” says Haque. “We’ve made an effort to entertain all of our guests in an atmosphere that transports them to a place unlike anywhere they’ve been while still putting their comfort first. As a result, 10 years later, we’ve formed a family amongst our clientele – we have customers who still dine with us several times a week for the atmosphere and, of course, our consistent signature dishes and innovative menu additions.”
He’s transformed the success of Koi Los Angeles into a worldwide brand through strategic expansions into New York (2005), Bangkok (2006) and Las Vegas (2007). In 2012, Haque plans to open an outpost in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and a second New York location. He continues to eye future projects in Miami and Washington, D.C.
