Whiskey Blue, W Hotel, Westwood

Another innovative creation of the Gerber Group to hit the L.A. nightlife scene is Whiskey Blue, at the W Hotel in Westwood. Just like all of their other properties, the high design and sa-weeet cocktails served result in a good time. They have a knack for creating cool, chic, and classic bars with modern glamour and sure know how to lure the ‘IT’ crowd over for a drink. Step out of the glitz of Hollywood for a moment and indulge yourself in an oasis of class and style. These guys have a way of making you feel like there’s nothing else outside those walls.

As you walk into the W’s grand entrance, you immediately see the check-in to your right and Whiskey Blue to your left. Pretty cool entrance if you ask me. It’s like a mothers arm welcoming you back from play. I can’t put my finger on it, but they sure are pros at rocking the nightlife scene.

Once inside the lounge, you will see the long bar to your right and the comfortable couches to your left; a great area to relax while you work off the ‘spins’. The Polynesian decor surrounding you makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. Order a drink, have a seat, and don’t worry about anything until you need to figure out how you’re getting home. If you don’t want to strain your brain, just check in for a night. Regardless, there’s nothing like working off that hangover over an amazing hotel breakfast and fresh squeezed orange juice.

One of the innovative cocktails on the menu is the ‘Sun Kissed Angel’. Consisting of Belvedere Pink Grapefruit vodka, elderflower liqueur, fresh grapefruit juice, mint, and a splash of sprite makes for a fruity drink. The grapefruit, lemon, and pear taste is subtle enough to be able to get a hint of all the sweet flavors.

Another tasty treat was the ‘Black Raspberry martini’. Consisting of Belvedere Black Raspberry vodka, fresh raspberries, mint, lime, and a splash of champagne, this drink hit will hit you hard. The raspberry taste pulled through, however, the flavored vodka out did the fresh raspberries, mint, and lime, to make for a strong cocktail.

At the end of the night, after messing with a few of their unique cocktails, you’ll find me in the lobby stretched out, and at peace; digesting a few drinks and watching the people walk by.
