Orange is the New Black star, Dascha Polanco celebrated National Rum Day on August 16th with the BACARDÍ Premium Rums, HAVANA CLUB Rum, SANTA TERESA 1796 Rum, BANKS Rums, and the FACUNDO Rum Collection.
Guests gathered at the rum bar hotspot, Las’ Lap in the Lower East Side to celebrate National Rum Day with premium rums from the Bacardi Limited portfolio. Five premium rum brands – including the BACARDÍ Premium Rums, HAVANA CLUB rum, SANTA TERESA 1796 Rum, BANKS Rums, and the FACUNDO Rum Collection – offered limited edition rum cocktails and passed bites, encouraging guests to ‘Raise Your Rum’ for the national holiday.
Dascha joined in on the fun as she mingled with guests, sipped on elevated libations from each of the premium rums and stepped behind the bar with Las’ Lap Beverage Director and 2017 BACARDÍ US Legacy winner, Darnell Holguin. The star of the forthcoming In The Heights movie shook up a BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho cocktail because she thought the rum bottle “looked sexy,” as did she, having swapped prison garb for an ensemble curated by stylist Mickey Freeman, which featured a purple Le Piacentini two-piece and sky-high shoes by Jimmy Choo. In The Heights isn’t the only music Polanco has in the works, she spilled that new music is on the way, and fans can anticipate her new album coming soon.
Throughout the evening, guests and consumers were treated to an array of limited-edition cocktails available at accounts throughout the boroughs of New York City. Created by the city’s most beloved bartenders from participating venues – The Lookup (Midtown), Grand Republic Cocktail Club (Greenpoint), Paper Daisy (East Village), Cecconi’s (Dumbo), and Las’ Lap (Lower East Side) – the premium rum portfolio was featured in five delicious summer cocktails, exclusive to each venue. Guests also received collectable rum-themed pins and scratch off “prizes,” redeemable exclusively at ReserveBar.com, to continue their National Rum Month festivities at home.
While enjoying an evening among guests sipping on the Rum-Arounds (made with BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho) and Brooklyn Admirals (made with HAVANA CLUB rum) – Polanco, a Latin actress herself, happily posed for photos with the Bacardi Limited brand ambassadors in a Raise Your Rum-inspired tropical oasis, she also grabbed a cigar from the live cigar roller onsite.
