Spice things up this National Margarita Day, on Thursday, February 22nd, with authentic Mexican Montelobos Mezcal and Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur. In light of the upcoming holiday, celebrated mixologist and Montelobos Mezcal Ambassador, Camille Austin, has selected three margarita recipes filled with flavor, spice and smokiness, that are delicious twists on the classic margarita.

Ancho Reyes Verde, launched in 2016 to much acclaim, also derives from the poblano chile like Original, but some slight tweaks in the production process results in a wildly different flavor profile. Both products are spicy and an excellent addition to cocktails.
COCKTAIL RECIPES:
Smoke and Fire

¾ part Montelobos Mezcal
¾ part Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur
¾ part Milagro Silver Tequila
1 part fresh lime juice
½ part agave nectar
Method:
Using a lime wedge, wet the rim of an old fashioned glass, salt it, and set aside.
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
Add ice, shake, and double strain over fresh ice into the glass.
Garnish with a lime wedge.

Ancho Verde Margarita

1 part Ancho Reyes Verde
1 part Milagro Silver Tequila
1 part fresh lime juice
1/3 part agave nectar
Method:
Add all ingredients to a shaker, add ice, and shake hard.
Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass with half its rim salted.
Garnish with a lime wheel.

Lobo Negro

2 parts Montelobos Mezcal
¾ part ginger syrup
1 part fresh lime juice
4 blackberries
Method:
Add blackberries to a cocktail shaker and muddle. Combine the rest of the ingredients and shake well to mix. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with 3 blackberries on a pick.
