The time has come. An affair of the spices and a meeting of the flavors that has yet to rendezvous in Los Angeles…
It goes without saying, our experience was amazing. With Michelin recommended culinary talent, Anupam Bhatia and La Confrerie de La Chaine des Rotisseurs Bronze Medal Winner Nimish Bhatia, behind the newly opened SPICE AFFAIR, how can you go wrong? Located on La Cienega’s restaurant row, SPICE AFFAIR offers guests a modern indian approach to California cuisine. Their cocktail program is just as impressive, but we’ll get to that in a second.
Owners Sonia Batra and Puneet Chandak, draw the same talented culinary team to Beverly Hills that has already garnered a Michelin Recommended rating from Spice Affair’s sister restaurant, Broadway Masala located in Northern California.
Contemporary interpretations of popular dishes that have already received much fan fare include: Duck and Date Mélange served over crisp Papdi bread; Chargrilled Lobster, yogurt marinated lobster-tails grilled in the tandoor; Mushroom Cappuccino, a delicious soup of pureed wild mushrooms served in a cappuccino cup; Artichoke Hearts from Tandoor, marinated in a proprietary sauce and then tandoor grilled; and Stuffed Naan with onion and Gorgonzola cheese.
Keeping in mind the health-conscious California diner, the majority of SPICE AFFAIR is gluten free and strays away from the use of creams, butter, & high cholesterol oils.
Ingredients usually found in Indian cuisine have also been applied to the Spice Affair cocktail program created by Anupam Bhatia and mixologist Jeremiah Caleb. Whether indulging in a signature cocktail and tapas in the captivating agate-adorned lounge or sipping a libation with dinner and friends, cocktails such as these add to a spicier soiree: Golden Elixir, the Spice Affair premium cocktail made with 12 ingredients including saffron infused vodka, and a blend of spices and floral essences; Buddha Bliss, a Bombay Sapphire martini with hints of ginger and cilantro; and the intriguing Violet Dusk, a floral cocktail with Spring44 gin, lychee juice and a mystical violet-blue-hazed finish. Paying homage to Golden State fare, the Spice Affair wine list consists primarily of California wines which pair perfectly with the variety of flavors on the menu.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, for those who focus on the TIPSY-side of living, SPICE AFFAIR offers a Happy Hour EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK! From 5-8PM, select signature cocktails, beer & wine, and bar bites are priced accordingly.
