Las Vegas – Emmy Award Winner and talk show host Joy Behar, 2 Broke Girls star and “Stiffler’s Mom” from American Pie fame Jennifer Coolidge, Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Susie Essman, and Anita Wise came out for a special preview of The Venetian Las Vegas’ LIPSHTICK: THE PERFECT SHADE OF STAND-UP tonight at LAVO New York.
LIPSHTICK – THE PERFECT SHADE OF STAND UP is a newly branded resident comedy series that marks the first time in the storied entertainment history of Las Vegas that the comedy stage will be taken exclusively by female performers. The new series, which kicked off last weekend with Wendy Williams, brings regular stand-up comedy performances to The Sands Showroom with an opening slate of 14 critically acclaimed comediennes. Joy Behar, Jennifer Coolidge, Susie Essman, Lisa Lampanelli, Caroline Rhea, Rita Rudner, Loni Love, and Wendy Liebman all have upcoming performances. Heather McDonald and Iliza Schleshinger are performing this weekend.
Special guest Melissa Villasenor opened the evening by paying special homage to the women of Lipshtick and showcased classic impressions including Owen Wilson and Wanda Sykes which entertained the crowd.
Soon after Joy, Jennifer, Anita and Susie took to the stage where the ladies had an impromptu Q & A with Susie acting as moderator asking fun and factual questions of the talented ladies and fielding questions from the audience.
When asked who her favorite comedian of all time was Joy Behar mentioned, “Mel Brooks. It doesn’t matter how old you are, he is just funny.” Susie Essman paid tribute to Joy Behar when she said “I was inspired by Joy as she was as funny off-stage and she was on-stage.”
“We’re all thrilled to be a part of this all-female comedy series,” exclaimed Susie. “Who thought of this?” she asked the crowd and the response was “Ed Huckfeldt and The Venetian Las Vegas” from a voice in the audience.
As for celebrity crushes Susie Essman smiled and said “Clive Owen” without skipping a beat while Jennifer Coolidge spoke of long-haired hunks from Lord of the Rings.
When asked if they could take one comedian to Vegas with them dead or alive to Vegas Jennifer Coolidge giggled, “I would take Jennifer Lopez’ mom, didn’t she win like a million dollars at the boardwalk….she’s very lucky!”
Guests were kept in stitches throughout the night and took photos and selfies with the comediennes following the Q and A while enjoying delicious cocktails and bites from LAVO New York.
