National Tequila Day is TODAY, and Hornitos® Tequila is inviting tequila fans to celebrate the holiday with an authentic Mexican sipping partner. Sangrita was born in the same state as tequila: Jalisco. It is a spicy and zesty beverage which is traditionally paired with a shot of Plata (silver/blanco) tequila to complement its agave taste. The traditional method is to alternate sips of tequila with sangrita, but it is sometimes mixed with the tequila and served in a single glass.
The pairing has been popular in Mexico since the 1920s– before tequila was even a common drink in the rest of the world.
Even though the U.S. consumes almost twice as much tequila as Mexico each year, National Tequila Day should serve as a holiday to get back to tequila’s roots. As one of the most regulated spirits, each bottle must be a product of Mexico, so there’s a great deal of work and pride that goes into making the product. Hornitos® Plata tequila is made with 100% Blue Agave tequila making it the ideal sangrita partner. Skip the margaritas this year, and try Hornitos® Not Just Any Sangrita.
