For many of its residents, New York City is the center of the universe. With everything you could ever ask for conveniently located in one city, why would you ever leave?
But we humans aren’t the only ones that feel this way. With beautiful parks, beaches, and perks galore, NYC is an incredibly dog-friendly metropolis.
If you feel like hitting the town with your best puppy pal, you’re in luck! Whether you have emotional support animal certification for your furry friend or not, there are plenty of activities in the city that are four-leg friendly. Here are a few of our favorite places for a pick-me-up with your pet.
This East Village neighborhood staple has it all. Snag two seats at the bar, one for you and one for your pup, and order a fancy cocktail or a local beer on draft.
With great happy hour specials and late-night hours, d.b.a. is the kind of bar you call home. Not only are they pet-friendly, but this neighborhood favorite hosts niche trivia nights and events that truly solidify its place as the local watering hole.
Delicious drinks, arcade games, and dogs. What more could you want? Aptly named, your dog truly is in luck when you take them to visit Lucky Dog.
This spot is beyond dog-friendly, with its social media pages and venue walls splattered with images of happy pups. Four-legged friends are welcome on the patio or at the bar, and it’s not uncommon to look around and see that pups outnumber people.
Is it your dog’s birthday or adoption anniversary? The Wilson is the type of place you take your furry friend for a celebration. The beautiful, classy restaurant hosts brunch and dinner with a killer happy hour. The real kicker? They have a menu just for your dog.
Complete with items that even a human would be lucky to eat, like pan-roasted salmon or grilled ribeye, The Wilson is the perfect date night spot to toast to Buster’s graduation from Puppy Training. They even have vegan dessert options, so the whole party can enjoy the night to the fullest.
Boris & Horton
Boris & Horton has a claim to fame as New York City’s first dog cafe. The community space and cafe far surpasses “dog-friendly,” hosting events from pup-centric pop-ups to pet painting events.
Every signature drink on their coffee menu is named after a dog friend, from “The Boris” to “The Lassie.” The company even has its own brand of dog treats that you can snag while you order your coffee. Stay for a glass of wine and let your dog socialize too, off-leash.
Ollie’s Ice Cream
Ollie’s markets itself as being ice cream for dogs first, humans second. With a slew of incredible human goodies to try, from house-made ice creams to sundaes and fluffer nutters, this spot is sure to become a Bushwick go-to for owner and pet alike.
More importantly? You can order a Pup Cup for your four-legged friend, complete with peanut butter and crushed puppy treats. With cold brew, sodas, and milkshakes galore, this is the perfect stop on a hot day’s walk. The adorable ice cream parlor really thought of everything, with Lactaid and doggy bags comically listed on their menu.
