New York – This past Saturday, February 3, Smirnoff and the rest of Diageo were honored with the 2018 Corporate Equality Award at the Human Rights Campaign Greater New York Gala.
Smirnoff Vice President, Jay Sethi, accepted the award on behalf of Diageo due to the brand’s long-standing support of the LGTBQ community and love in all its forms. Last year, Smirnoff launched its limited edition “Love Wins” bottle packaging, which donated $1 per bottle made to HRC for a total of $260,000. The bottles featured real LGBTQ couples and served as a representation of the brand’s continued commitment to equality.
“I wanted to work a company where diversity is cherished,” Sethi reflects in his acceptance speech. “I wanted to run a brand that could make a real difference in this community. And I found that and more at Diageo.”
Diageo received this accolade due to the company’s consistent emphasis on and support of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Consistently recognized as one of the best places to work for LGBTQ employees, Diageo has received a perfect score on the HRC Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index– the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to LGBTQ employees – for the last ten years.
