New York – Last week, the New York Tipsy Team headed over to the W Times Square (1567 Broadway) to be the among the first to see and learn about W Time Square’s $10 million Living Room and Bar renovation.
We headed up to the 7th floor, where we were greeted by champagne and the design cocktail immersion and were given a tour of the dramatically renovated Living Room and Bar…
Led by Josh Held Design in partnership with Starwood’s design team, the dramatic eight figure renovation is the first redesign of the lobby/bar since the hotel opened in 2001. The re-imagination of the Living Room is a sultry, yet playful tribute to the Times Square of the past – from the gilded theaters of the 20s and 30s to the neon-soaked scene of the 70s and 80s. (Think neon bar installations; brass and dichroic patterns and features; custom, mirrored light fixtures; a rotating glass ball DJ booth and more.)
W Hotels VP of Brand Design, Ted Jacob, and Josh Held of Josh Held Design led the short design tour and immersion, which was then followed by a cocktail tasting of the new menu of specialty cocktails (with ingredients by local distilleries), curated by innovative F&B group indieFORK (team behind The Eldridge, The Handy and LES Beat). Matt Levine, founder of indieFORK, was also on hand to talk more about the new bar and offerings.
