Sip & Celebrate NATIONAL RUM DAY with CRUZAN Single Barrel Rum

As you may (or may not) know, August 16th marks National Rum Day – a great excuse for spirit lovers to kick back and celebrate… with a fine rum!

Now that summer is at its peak, try something a bit different to celebrate the occasion – a premium Cruzan sipping rum, which can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks – just like your other favorite barrel aged spirits. Cruzan Single Barrel is aged in ex-bourbon barrels and has the same complex and full-bodied taste that is found in whiskey, but as a spirit distilled from cane molasses, this rum has sweeter nuances combined with a depth of flavor that you may find unexpected in a rum.

Cruzan® Coconut Old Fashioned

2 parts Cruzan® Single Barrel Rum
1/2 part Rich Simple Syrup
3 dashes of Bitters
Coconut Water Ice Cubes (recipe to follow)
Method:
Cut a wide swath of orange peel and lightly press it in the bottom of a rocks glass. Add rum, syrup and bitters. Now drop in a few coconut water ice cubes and stir gently.

Coconut Water Ice Cubes:
Pour a can of coconut water (strain the pulp out first, if needed) in an ice cube tray – the bigger the cube tray the better – and freeze for several hours.

2 parts Cruzan® Black Strap Rum
1/2 part Fresh Lime Juice
Q Ginger Beer

Method: Build ingredients in an Old Fashioned glass over ice. Top with ginger beer and stir. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Cruzan® Blueberry Lemonade Cooler

2 parts Cruzan® Blueberry Lemonade Rum
3/4 part Fresh Grapefruit Juice
1 small pinch Sea Salt
Q Club Soda

Method: Combine rum, grapefruit juice and salt over ice in a shaker. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Double strain into a glass over ice and top with club soda. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel.

Cruzan® House Punch

1 part Cruzan® Estate Diamond® Light Rum
1/2 part Cruzan® 9 Spiced Rum
2 parts Fresh Pineapple Juice
1 part Fresh Mango Juice
1/2 part Fresh Orange Juice

Method: Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, mix well. Pour over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with a wedge of pineapple.
