New York – On Tuesday night, Peroni Nastro Azzurro and MADE announced Chris Gelinas of New York City as the winner of the 2nd Annual MADE for Peroni Young Designer Awards in the gallery space at Milk Studios. The Second Annual MADE for Peroni Young Designer Awards is a high-level fashion design competition open exclusively to menswear, womenswear and streetwear designers residing in Los Angeles, New York City and Miami. Finalists competed for financing and production of their collection to be shown at MADE Fashion Week 2014. Designers competing included Wisit Prapong (Los Angeles), Shuh Jiuan Ng (Miami) and Chris Gelinas, Joseph Singh and Bela Shehu (New York).
Fashion enthusiasts, editors and friends of Peroni and MADE mingled in the gallery space last night and shared in celebration when Parsons graduate, Chris Gelinas, was announced as the winner of the competition. Gelinas draws his knowledge from past work refining his skills with fashion houses including Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga and Theysken’s Theory.
The judging panel including Coco Rocha, Jenné Lombardo, Nicole Fasolino, Nolan Bellavance and Zanna Roberts Rassi mingled with the finalists and all guests throughout the evening. Other fashion enthusiasts and notables in attendance included Kelly Rutherford (actress), Kelly Bensimon (personality), Nina Agdal (top model), Julie Macklowe (socialite), Nicole Winhoffer (beauty expert) and Bianca Jade (health and style expert).
That morning (9/10) the judging panel met with each designer individually and were presented with each designer’s creative concept. After careful deliberation throughout the day it was decided that Chris Gelinas was the unanimous winner.
