New York, NY (January 2013) – Daniel Rieger, Mike Russell, and Stafford Schlitt of RSR Hospitality Group and Brian Krawitz and Eric Sherman announce the opening of their new venture The Royal, an upscale sports restaurant and lounge. With a soft opening of January 1st, The Royal is offering the “after work crowd” and sport’s fans alike a classy alternative to happy hour and game days.
The Royal brings the ultimate dining and viewing experience to Manhattan’s Union Square, marrying traditional sports bar elements with a high quality menu and the sophistication of a late night lounge. High top cocktail tables and lower booths punctuate the front of the restaurant along the red maple topped bar. Special LED lights pulse to the beat of music coming from the DJ booth, which was strategically placed over two tables in the main dining room, allowing patrons to be in the center of the entertainment. Large chocolate leather banquettes can be found towards the rear of the space providing maximum comfort for guests while they view sporting events on one of the 43 LED televisions. A colorful art installation situated in the corner accents the antique deep grey wood walls that were reclaimed from a barn in western Pennsylvania.
Executive Chef, Chef Daniel Parilla, currently serving as Executive Sous Chef at Minetta Tavern, has crafted a menu featuring a modernized version of traditional American bar fare, designed specifically for group ordering. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees and sides. Guests can sink their teeth into an array of delicious bites including The Royal Grilled Cheese, with cheddar, mozzarella, brie, and crispy Serrano ham, $13, Gluten Free Mac & Cheese made with brown rice penne topped off with aged parmesan gratin, $16, or The King’s Burger, a classic burger with house sauce and new pickles on a toasted sesame bun, $14. The Royal’s drink menu will showcase frozen and mixed drinks, also being offered in large formats for group sharing.
