Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 19 and traveled the world until he settled in Hawaii. He opened his tattoo parlor in the notoriously chaotic Hotel Street District of Honolulu during WWII. Here, his clientele were men one-step away from wartime experiences that would define the rest of their lives. On the backs of these men he defined his unique bold style of flash designs that earned him the plaudit ‘Father of the Old-School Tattoo.’ In respect for those who serve and inspired by Sailor Jerry’s iconic flash, are these unique recipes for Navy Day, Saturday October 27th. We raise a glass in their honor and thank them for their service. Cheers!
