“Otrera will continue to be the brand that takes good luck charms from all over the world and brings them to life in print to protect her wearers from all things negative, but now instead of just through scarves, I will do it in beachwear as well,” explains Sakellis.
Designer Elle Sakellis recently announced her debut into ready-to-wear, with the launch of her new Otrera Beach collection. The collection takes good luck charms from around the world and incorporates them into her designs, focusing currently around the Greek Evil Eye.
With the help of Jennifer Kosiba, the large and vibrant print Otrera scarves with the Evil Eye have been worn as cover-ups on the most exclusive beaches in the world; think Mykonos, Ibiza, and St. Tropez. Now with the debut of her beach collection, Sakellis’ evil eye will be seen on beachside resorts, and not just as scarves, but as floor length jersey dresses, high waisted floor length skirts, off shoulder mini dresses, kimono sleeve dresses, v-neck caftans, silky lounge shorts, and halter neck jumpsuits. The collection offers pieces that translate easily from day to night; perfect for lounging poolside or for a sunset dinner or cocktails in the sand.
Since Otrera’s inception in 2007, Otrera has been carried by some of the best stores in the world, including Barneys, Intermix, Henri Bendel and Bloomingdale’s and has done exclusive collaborations with companies such as luxury online retailer, Net-A-Porter.
In Spring 2012, the Otrera Beach line will be sold at select Intermix stores and Scoop.
