International Rescue Committee Raises Nearly $20 Million at Annual Rescue Dinner at the New York Hilton Midtown

New York – Last night, on Thursday, November 2, The International Rescue Committee raised $20 million dollars at its annual Rescue Dinner Benefit taking place at the New York Hilton Midtown.

The evening honored Michael R. Bloomberg and actress and director Liv Ullmann. Michael Bloomberg, through his foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, announced a gift of $10 million. The funds raised will support the organization’s lifesaving humanitarian work around the world. The evening also featured a performance by Somali-Canadian recording artist, K’naan, who fled Somalia as a refugee in his youth.

Other notable attendees included Meryl Streep, Vicky Cornell, Tom Brokaw, Brian Roberts, Danny Boyle and Praya Lundberg.
