For a Classic Rum Cocktail:
Daiquiri al Marrasquino created by Ambassador, Ashela Richardson

Daiquiri al Marrasquino

1.5 Part Flor de Caña 7
¾ Part Fresh Lime Juice
½ Part Simple Syrup (1.5:1 Sugar: Water)
¼ Part Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
Shake Vigorously and strain into Coupe
Garnish with Orange Peel
Daiquiri: Coupe Glass

My favorite variation of the Classic Daiquiri, this is inspired by the Floridita cocktail but uses aged Flor de Caña rum instead of white rum for a bit more complexity. I add in a thin orange twist to brighten the citrus notes.” – Ashela Richardson

Pina Colada Fresca

1 ½ parts Flor de Caña 7
1 part coconut water
1 part fresh pineapple juice
½ part fresh orange juice
Swizzle over crushed ice and top with nutmeg and orange slice

1 ½ part Flor de Caña 7
1 part coconut water
¾ part fresh orange juice
¼ part fresh lime juice
½ pineapple gomme syrup
Serve: pebble ice
Garnish: grated nutmeg

Obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Saint Thomas in 2013, Ashela believes that when you understand the science of what you consume, you can better navigate your view and experience of it.

As Flor de Caña heavily focuses on its distinct production of its award-winning Nicaraguan rum, Ashela is able to merge the technical side of the brand’s high-quality rum production with mixology, bringing the brand’s rich history, quality credentials and taste to life.

Ashela creates cocktails in a classic style that focus on the flavor of the spirit and ingredients, ensuring the perfect balance. Tapping the nuances of how spirts and cocktails are made, she is able to guide people to taste the distinctions, no matter how subtle.

Throughout the course of her career, Ashela has become an avid storyteller. She embodies hospitality with a genuine, warm personality and loves sharing her knowledge and experience from years spent in the restaurant industry, particularly associated with her passion for bartending.
