New York – Over the weekend, the exclusive launch of “The D’USSÉ Re-Mixer” Series took place, hosted by Grammy award-winning producer 9th Wonder and National Bacardi Portfolio Ambassador, Chris Hopkins.
NYC’s top bartenders gathered at Electric Lady – Jimi Hendrix’s original recording studio and the oldest working studio in Manhattan – joining the acclaimed producer who’s worked with Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, Drake, Mary J. Blige, amongst many others. Marking the official kick off to the series before it heads to Los Angeles and Atlanta at the start of 2017, guests drew inspiration from the brand’s roots in music as they uncovered the parallels between reworking a classic cocktail and remixing a classic song.
To showcase and celebrate the recent rise in cognac and cognac-based cocktails, Chris and 9th Wonder led guests through an interactive experience focused on “Classics Remixed,” where they interacted with the unique flavors of D’USSÉ VSOP. 9th Wonder and Chris demonstrated the fascinating parallels between cocktails and music, and how to place a unique twist on both a classic cocktail and track. Guests ‘remixed’ various classics, such as a Mai Tai and a Mint Julep and added their own twists by adding D’USSÉ VSOP to their traditional recipes. They were then introduced to the creative techniques of mixing music and created a one of a kind mix of Jay-Z’s hit single, Encore. Whether they were swapping spirits or lowering the bass, both creative processes played with the familiarity and intrigue of the new.
