Just last week, Tipsy Diaries took a stroll over to KILLER SHRIMP in Hermosa Beach for some seafood, tipsyness, & great people-watching.
About a block from the beach, this venue offers up some of the best seafood in the city. The venue, with it’s outdoor patio at the end of the Hermosa Beach Boardwalk, is a great spot to post up for lunch or dinner, with perfect views of the California coastline.
Shrimp, lobster, crab, salmon, mussels, calamari, oysters, clams, & scallops. Check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, & check.
Known for their ‘killer shrimp,’ the shrimp is served in various dishes; Killer Shrimp Pot Pie, Killer Shrimp Mac n’ Cheese, Killer Shrimp, Crab, & Lobster, Killer Shrimp Pasta, and the list goes on and on.
Okay, you get it. Shrimp, shrimp, and more shrimp. But one more thing. This delicious shrimp is prepared using all natural ingredients that are simmered for 10 hours, to create their succulent spicy sauce. All of these dishes are served piping hot and with french bread for dunking (because that’s the best part!).
If you’re over the shrimp, we get it, but it’s a MUST-try!
Other offerings that are sure to liven up your tastebuds – The Fisherman’s Stew will give you a 360 palate tour of almost everything ‘under the sea.’ Included in this dish – snow crab, salmon, shrimp, scallops, mahi, cod, clam, & mussels, all mixed with a slow-cooked tomato sauce.
Jumbo Crab Cakes, Sautéed Scallops, Beer Battered Fish & Chips, Killer Paella, Lobster Ravioli, BBQ Mahi Mahi Sandwich, Lobster Roll, Lobster Mac n’ Cheese, etc, etc, etc.
Some non-seafood options on the menu include: Grilled Filet Mignon, Bone-In Pork Chop, Grilled Hanger Steak, & Pan Roasted Chicken Breast.
Now, what’s a good meal without refreshing cocktails?!
KILLER SHRIMP’S cocktail menu is fresh, unique, ‘crafty,’ & runs the gamut of vodka, rum, tequila, mezcal, & gin cocktails – and of course, beer & wine is also offered.
I opted for the KS Mojito since it was ‘National Mojito Day’ and we just HAD to represent! Made with Atlantico Pacifico Rum, 2 types of bitters, mint, sugar, & fresh lime. This “tri-color mojito” is based on a recipe from the Queen’s Park Hotel in the 1920’s.
Next up, I went with the Shrimp Killa cocktail. This one is made with Atlantico Reserve Rum, mixed with coconut cream, pineapple juice, & freshly grated nutmeg. This cocktail was inspired by a cocktail of a similar name, invented at the Soggy Dollar Bar, on the island of Jost Van Dyke, and it was oh so good!
My eyes were also set on the Passion Killer, made with Olmeca Altos Tequila, Passion Fruit, Housemade Curacao, Fresh Lime Juice, & Jalapeño. A margarita with a spicy kick! Perfect to end the night.
After ALL of that goodness, we opted for some dessert.
I went with the New York Cheesecake, baked to perfection!
Sweet Potato Pecan Pie, Warm Apple Cobbler, S’mores, Triple Layer Chocolate Cake are also on the dessert menu and the perfect way to end a killer night.
