Hollywood – On Sunday night, Hollywood was alive when it came to musical entertainers. Not only was it the night of American Music Awards, but it was a busy night at Next Door Lounge. Janet Jackson came by and sat at a table center stage to watch her nephew Austin Brown perform for a crowd of 150+ people. The exclusive group of family and friends were also there to celebrate Austin Brown’s birthday. Janet smiled throughout Austin’s performance, looking fit, and sitting with girlfriends as a bodyguard watched over them. She did not allow any photos to be taken of her, but a photo was snuck in of Ms. Jackson from the El Cartel Tequila Instagram. Just two weeks ago, Janet Jackson’s old flame Jermaine Dupri was also at Next Door Lounge as he is the celebrity ambassador for El Cartel Tequila.
Birthday boy Austin Brown entertained for friends and family performing original songs and a cover or two (including “Rollercoaster”). Several attendees commented that Austin looks and sounds similar to his uncle Michael Jackson during his brakeout solo career period. Austin is the son of Maureen Reillette “Rebbie” Brown of the Jackson Family. She is the eldest of the Jacksons. Looks like there is a new musical talent in the Jackson family!
Another star performance from the evening came from JoJo who amazed the crowd with her soulfoul voice as she came to support her good friend Austin Brown. The two even shared a big hug on stage.
Other celebs such as Angela Simmons stood up on one of the leather high-backed chairs to get a better look above the crowd during Austin’s performance. America’s Next Top Model winner Saleisha Stowers sat at a front row table with girlfriends who were sipping El Cartel Tequila cocktails and red wine.
The new Prescription for Prohibition Sundays is a new capsule collection of exclusive evenings at Next Door Lounge which feature live musical performances from some of LA’s top and up and coming artists. Recently named “Best Speakeasy” by LA WEEKLY, Next Door Lounge also featured bottle service for the for the first time, as well as their signature artisanal cocktails.
