On Tuesday, September 18th, Harvest Home along with world-renowned chef’s Marcus Samulesson and Nils Noren, will be holding Savor the Season Uptown, a walk-around tasting event to benefit Harvest Home’s invaluable work bringing farm-fresh food, which includes a network of farmer’s markets and other healthy food and lifestyle programs to underserved communities.
Harvest Home is a Harlem-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing access to local, farm-fresh produce to low income neighborhoods in New York City. “This event is an exciting and meaningful way to build awareness and understanding of the importance of ensuring low income communities have access to our food programs,” Maritza Wellington Owens, Chief Executive Officer of Harvest Home Farmer’s Market says, “We are honored and thrilled to work with Chef Marcus Samulesson and Chef Nils Noren to bring together exceptional chefs to help our cause.”
Chef Samuelsson of Harlem’s Red Rooster has invited ten of the ‘best of the best’ restaurants who work north of 110th Street to show case, in tasting plates, their most innovative and exciting creations focusing on in-season farm fresh produce. Participants will assist in raising the profile of this eclectic community and raise money for the vital work undertaken by Harvest Home.
Guests will enjoy a blue grass musicians, Tumbling Bones, will keep the evening lively and celebratory in the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que (upstairs) venue.
